Myer Werribee store opening

Store openings are hugely important to the store team, and to engage with the community in which they have been built.
The program of events in the week of the opening must reward the customer database, provide memorable experiences for new customers and be relevant to the local demographic.

Werribee is a suburb that is experiencing massive growth in Melbourne's west, with the huge majority of new residents being young families.
For this reason, most activity was focused on children's entertainment, with supporting activity appealing to parents as well as appearances from Geelong and Western Bulldogs players to engage the family as a whole.

My role was sole responsibility for end-to-end delivery, including budget management, sourcing activities and engaging all suppliers, execution and collaborating with the store team to use their site as a venue on its first days of operation.

Superhero character appearances have been hugely popular with families in recent years, but this can often under-represent role models for young girls.
Working with one of our licensed entertainment suppliers, we made female role models a priority and sourced a jedi training school with a female jedi teacher.
The response to this activity from our youngest customers was hugely positive and a highlight of the event.
